Zebra Blinds Universal Light Blocker
Light leak happens due to light gaps that are formed when the blinds and shades that you have chosen for your windows don’t make a snug fit on your windows. This is common on any inside mount shade. A great solution to this issue is to use light blockers to cover those gaps on the sides of the window. These are pieces of material that are added to the insides of the window trims to help seal off light.
Special Features of Light Blocker
- The Universal Light Blocker comes in one color, ‘white’
- Each blocker is a two piece set: a base that is installed to the window frame, and an extension that is slotted into the base for light control.
- These blockers are designed to be cut down and trimmed on site so that they fit your window specifically. When you order, you should order at a size larger than the height of your window for the sides, and larger than the width of your window for the sill. Note that there is a height tolerance of 1/8 to 1/4" from the ordered height of the blocker.
- These light blockers can be added on to any blind or shade so long as you have enough depth to mount them. They are designed to cover a maximum gap of 1 1/2" in width.
Installing Light Blockers to Your Blinds
To install your Light Blockers to your blinds, follow the simple steps given below:
Step 1: Take all required measurements.
Take measurement of the height of the window from the top to the bottom of the window frame. Order at a size larger than your needed measurements so that you can cut it down to perfect fit. Ensure that you have room to mount the blockers on the sides of your window opening, in front of your blinds.
Step 2: Cut the Pieces.
Using your height measurement, cut the light blockers to achieve your total height.
Step 3: Installation
Place light marks along the side of the window frame so you can line up your base in a straight line. The light blockers should be installed in front of the shade as close to the fabric as possible without impeding its movement.
Take a piece of the base and peel the seal off of the back exposing the double sided adhesive, attaching it to the sides of the window opening starting from the bottom of the window up along the markings on the window frame. Firmly press the piece onto the window frame and clip the extension to the base. Your Universal Light Blockers for your shades are successfully installed.
