How does a dual shade work?
Our motorized double roller shades are mounted with a dual bracket, which houses two independent roller shades (one in the front, and one in the back). Usually you will have one blackout shade in the back, and one solar screen shade in the front. The two shades can be operated independently by a remote control.
So if you wanted the blackout fabric for controlling light, you would use the remote to operate the back shade individually. If you wanted the front shade, then you would raise the back shade and then lower the front shade by itself. This also means that there are two separate motors in a dual shade, one for the front and one for the back. This convenient setup allows you to control each roll individually using automations or remote commands.
How are motorized dual roller shades installed?
Installation for these dual shades is very easy. For both inside mount and outside mount styles, you would simply drill in the brackets for the shade and then clip on the shade to those brackets. For shades ordered without a valance, you would need to install the front and back shades to the brackets individually. Once installed, if you have the Z-wave motors you can connect them to a compatible smart hub and then to google home or amazon alexa for voice control.
