What type of window treatments can you see out but not in?
The most common type of see through window blinds are also known as solar shades. These shades have openings in the fabric that allow you to see through to a certain degree, depending on the tightness of the weave (or the 'openness'). A solar shade allows you to see through them from a darker side to a lighter side. This means during the daytime, you will be able to see outside easily when it is bright out, however at night time it has the opposite effect. So solar shades allow you to see out but not in only during the day.
Is there a window shade that you can see through during the day but not at night?
Due to the way any shade with openness works, at night time when it is dark out and you have the lights on inside, it will be easy to see inside the home but you cannot see outside. This means that these shades will not provide privacy at night time. If you are looking for a see through window shade that has the properties of a solar shade but also provides privacy at night time, thankfully we have a variety of options which essentially have two shades in one. For example the dual shades have both a solar shade and a blackout shade in the same unit, allowing you to use the blackout shade at night time for privacy when you need it.
How does solar shades openness work?
Openness refers to how much you can see through a material. The tightest weave of a 1% openness would only allow you to see movement but not detail, while a 10% openness material would be very see through and look almost like a tinted window. When you customize your see through window shades, you'll be able to choose the openness that fits your needs. If it is more important to reduce glare, heat, and UV rays, then select an openness fabric in 1-5%. If you want a clearer view through, then go for 10% or more.
