How much do curtain panels cost?

The price of any curtain panels will vary primarily on the size of the panel and the fabric you choose. An average size window could cost anywhere from $100 to $200 to start. Generally curtains are a straight forward and affordable alternative to comparable shades, so you can get layered curtains for a similar cost and better functionality.

Combining double layer curtains with a sheer panel

The ultimate in layered curtains is combining double layer curtains with sheer panels. This means you essentially have three layers: one sheer, one light filtering, and one blackout. Hanging drapery in this style can be difficult but is sure to add a unique look and functionality to any room.

How do you hang two layers of curtains?

When you layer a curtain or drapery, you need to make sure you get the proper rod. Layered sheer curtains cannot move properly or independently unless you have a rod designed to hang multiple curtains. In most cases, a double rod will allow you to mount a curtain on the front and sheers on the back. This allows for either layer to have independent control over your windows.

How to choose the right curtain rod

When choosing your rods, first ensure that it is the right width to cover your window. Usually rods will extend about 4-6 inches past each side of the window. Then you should ensure that the rod is either a single rod for one layer or dual rod for two layers. Lastly you'll want to make sure the rod is the appropriate size to mount your curtain. For example if you have rod pocket drapery, you'll want to make sure your rod isn't too thick that it won't fit inside the rod pocket.
