What Are Day Night Cellular Shades?

Day night cellular shades are a type of window shading that combines two layers of fabric. They are basically two honeycomb shades stacked on top of each other. The top layer is usually made from a sheer or light filtering material, allowing natural light to enter the room. The bottom layer, on the other hand, is usually made of a thicker, opaque fabric that blocks out unwanted sunlight and provides additional energy efficiency and insulation to your home. This makes them a versatile shade that is great for both days and nights. You can use the light filtering fabric during the day to let in natural light while reducing heat and glare, or use the blackout material for darkness during the day when watching movies or to sleep in. At night you can use the blackout material for complete privacy.

Pros and Cons

Not sure if day night cellular shades are for you? Here are some pros and cons to consider before purchasing them:

Day night cellular shades feature two layers of fabric, with one layer being sheer or light filtering for daytime use, and the other being opaque for nighttime use. You can enjoy natural light during the day while still having complete privacy at night. The two layers come in a variety of colors and styles so you can find the one that fits your décor. Some brands allow you to choose colors for each layer individually, letting you mix and match for the perfect look.  Additionally, their honeycomb-shaped cell structure traps air and helps insulate your home against heat loss in the winter and keep out unwanted heat from the sunlight during the summer. This makes your home more comfortable, energy efficient, and can reduce your energy costs over time.

Day night shades are also available in many custom options, including cordless lifts for additional child safety, or single cell or double cell fabrics for added protection. They are easy to install and operate, and our new designs feature an easy installation process as the shade comes pre-assembled. Simply screw in the brackets and the shade clips on, making it easier to install than ever before!

Since there are two layers of fabric, when raised fully these shades will have a larger fabric stack than other types of shades. This can also cause a busy look on larger windows. Day night shades tend to be more expensive than other window treatments due to their specialized construction and materials used - they are essentially twice the fabric of a normal shade!

Cleaning and Maintenance

If not properly maintained, dust buildup on the fabric can cause it to become discolored over time or even tear prematurely from wear-and-tear. To clean, use a vacuum on a light setting with a brush attachment to clean surface debris, or dust regularly. Do not use water or liquids to clean the materials as that can cause damage or stains.
