Custom Wood Valances and Cornices

Wood Valance - Wood Cornice

Have you already hung your blinds but feel like something is missing? Are you looking to redecorate your room but aren't sure where to start? Try looking at wood valances or cornices. A wood valance is a great way to add dimension and interest to your room by topping off a window or sliding-glass door. They are a fantastic finishing technique used by home designers to add a simple accent or consistent look across your windows that can make the difference between a good looking room to one that turns heads. Wood valances are the subtle but important final piece to any decor or style, and can also be used to hide curtain rods, accent furniture, and more.

Are wooden valances in style?

Yes! Wooden valances for windows have always been and will be in style, due to their simple yet timeless look. You can get wood valances that match your wall and frame completely. Choose from our many painted wood colors and stains and get cornices that seamlessly integrate to your home decor style. Or go for wood valances that stand out and create a strong impression.

How do you hang wooden valances?

Wood valances are easily attached to your wall or window opening using L brackets and valance clips. Simply screw in the brackets to your wall, and then attach the valance clips to the brackets to hold them secure in front of your window opening or existing window blinds.

Can you use a wood valance to hide a curtain rod?

Yes! Wood valances are the perfect solution to an unsightly curtain rod or track, or exposed mounting hardware on blinds and shades. Make sure to get a valance in the right size and height so that it can cover your rod completely.

Should you mount a wood valance inside or above the window opening?

A wood valance can be mounted either inside mount or outside mount. Outside mount is common for wood valances and wood cornices that need to cover existing mounting hardware, such as on a curtain rod, or a headrail on a blind. Wood cornices are usually larger and used as an accent piece which works better for outside mounts, as they can be mounted higher up to give the illusion of a taller window. Inside mount wood valances are more common if you are looking to cover an inside mount blind headrail and give it a clean look that matches your frame. The wood valance would be straight cut on the sides so that it seamlessly covers end to end on your window opening.
