What are Cellular Shades?

Cellular shades (also known as honeycomb shades) are some of the most useful window coverings you will find in the market today. They are primarily known for their ability to act as the perfect insulators for your home and are hailed as natural regulators of temperature. These shades are made out of fabric that comprises ‘cells’ or ‘honeycombs’ that trap the hot air and prevent them from leaving your room, making sure that you have warm winters.

They also come in different structural designs, materials, and fabrics, making them a unique choice for your home. They can offer a lot of privacy and block out harsh and harmful sunlight (UV rays) from entering your home). Blackout cellular shades are known for their ability to completely darken your home by not allowing any light to enter through the fabrics. These blackout cellular shades can work perfectly for your bedrooms and dens.

How do I remove my Graber Cellular Shades from my window opening?

If you are planning on getting Graber cellular shades, or if you already have them, you might want to know how to remove them as well. There is always a lot going on about how cellular shades are quite easy to mount if you know how to do it. It doesn’t take too much time and you can do it on your own. While it is always important to know how to install shades (even if you don’t have them), it is equally important to know how to dismount them.

You might want to remove your cellular shades to clean them, service them or replace them with another window treatment. Regardless of why you want to remove them, it is important that you know how to remove them so that you do not damage the blinds or spend too much time doing something that is not that time-consuming.

The following steps will guide you into removing your Graber Cellular shades (note that you can use this guide for other types of cellular shades as well) –

Step 1 – Take a flathead screwdriver and wedge it between the headrail and the brackets. Once it’s wedged in perfectly, the blade of the screwdriver must be twisted. If done correctly, the headrail and the bracket will separate.

Step 2 – This is an extra step that you need to do, only if your bracket is transparent and plastic. You will find a tab on the back of the bracket. You must push it, while simultaneously pulling the headrail of the shade forward.

Step 3 – Once the headrail has been disengaged, if you want to remove the brackets as well, you can go ahead and unscrew the screws that hold the brackets together.

Are Cellular Shades Worth the Investment?

You might be looking to invest in some cellular shades or you might be wondering if your existing cellular shades are good enough and whether they need to be replaced with new cellular shades or another type of window treatment altogether. Here are some benefits of cellular shades that can push you in the right direction –

  1. A modern look to your home – A lot of window coverings can start looking a little outdated in a couple of years or maybe even sooner. However, you won’t find that problem with cellular shades. These shades, with their structural design, fit in seamlessly with almost any home interiors.
  2. Energy Efficiency – This is the unique selling point of all cellular shades. Their ability to trap hot or cold air and make rooms warm or cool is unparalleled. But it goes beyond temperature control. It’s the fact that this regulation of temperature happens naturally, reducing your dependence on your artificial temperature control systems at home, which also means that it reduces the amount of money spent on utilities.
  3. Light Control features – Cellular shades are quite user-friendly when it comes to filtering light. A light filtering fabric does a great job of letting light through while keeping the heat out while blackout fabrics block both light and heat.
  4. Privacy – One of the fundamental aspects of good window treatment is that they offer a lot of privacy. People want the luxury of being able to look outside their homes without having to risk exposing themselves to people outside.

Cellular shades make a good choice of window treatment for your homes. They are easy to maintain, mount and remove once you know the processes.
