Window blinds and shades are an integral part of our home project as we have seen various changes when it comes to decor evolution. From providing comfort to give the interior a sophisticated look, window dressings play a crucial role in our daily living. They are designed to protect the interior from the harshness of sunlight and heat while offering the ultimate protection. There is a range of solutions available and picking up the right one can do wonders for your entire decor. You can choose from horizontal blinds, vertical blinds and many more. But if you are looking for something elegant that will complement your small windows in a dramatic way while adding the touch of warmth, then Venetian blinds are a great choice.
What are Venetian Blinds?
Venetian blinds are one of the most popular and reliable window blinds in the market which combine beauty and functionality in one. Their capability in protecting against sun and UV exposure makes them unique and revolutionary. Besides being functional, they add diversity and visual appeal to your overall home arena. Whether you want to give windows a contemporary look or modern, these blinds will always add a classic touch to your room. These window blinds are made of different wooden, metal, and plastic slat sizes, stacked one after the other leaving some gap between two slats. You can customize them as per your needs and convenience.
Like any other window treatments, sometimes your Venetian blinds may suffer from damage due to some accidental reasons. You might accidentally close them or your pets might try to claw their way through the blinds while playing. Basically, your blinds could become bent over time. This will not only make your blinds look unappealing but it could also impact their functionality. Now the question is how to fix a bent Venetian blind slat? Sounds tricky, right? Ways of Fixing Bent Venetian Blind Slat
Step 1: Remove the blinds from the window to make the job done easier. And make sure to put on hand gloves as these blinds come with sharp edges that could be dangerous for you.
Step 2: Now, put the bent slat on a flat surface. Use your hand to put pressure on the slats and for the hard edges, get a ball or round object and roll it over the damaged slat. Flip the blind slat and do the same thing for the opposite side.
Step 3: Continue the process until you get the desired straight blind appearance.
Note – There are two types of Venetian mini blinds available – flat and curved. Curved slat mini blinds are a little tricky to fix than the flat mini blind slats. For curved slats, you may require a dowel to repair them and the rest of the procedure is the same as above.
Things You Should Consider
● While putting the hand pressure, make sure the pressure should be optimal, or else you could end up doing more harm to your bent slats.
● If the slats are extremely damaged and you are not getting any option to repair them, then replace them with the new one.
● Don’t use a hairdryer or steamer to unbend them; instead, you can use hot water to fix the slats.
● Venetian blinds come in different designs and lift mechanisms and the above guideline may not work for your blind type.
Bent blind slats can be a huge pain which can interrupt the blind functionality while ruining the look of the windows. So, always consider high-quality window blinds which last for long and give you the ultimate pleasure. And make sure to clean them daily to increase the longevity of the window coverings!
