What are Thermal Curtains?

This property makes the curtains capable of stopping thermal conductivity, also known as U- value. Typically, thermal curtains have three layers, although two and four layers are also available for customization. The inside layer is a decorative fabric made from woven cotton, polyester, linen, or silk- which helps create the desired ambience in the room. The middle layer comprises foam, flannel or any similar material that is thermally resistant. The third layer is the backmost fabric that protects the inner layer from direct exposure to sunlight. This last layer acts as a vapour barrier for the middle foam from condensed water droplets found around windows. If ordered as a lighter shade, this backing layer can reflect light and heat. Thus, it drastically reduces the buildup of heat in a room during the summer.

How does a thermal curtain work?

Thermal curtains create a buffer between the window and the room. The advantage of it is that the air infiltration through conductivity is reduced. In the summers, the buffer created by the thermal curtains does not allow the outside hot air to enter into the room and in winters, the escape of heated inside air is stalled. Velcro, magnetic tape or any other adhesive can set the curtain on the window frame.  At the center, the curtains should be the thickest to avoid the escape of air. Thermal curtains have a lot of advantages. They make the room aesthetically appealing and provide good insulation along with sunlight control and privacy. Thermal curtains are certainly not a fad, and are here to stay.
