Solar fabrics are designed to cut out the glare and not the view, especially with the 5% openness factor of these shades, making the fabric translucent in nature. The continuous loop control, cordless or motorization of these shades made easy operation. When it comes to energy efficiency, apart from the solar fabric that works with glare, reducing the energy output of your cooling systems, the presence of two fabrics can be used as a pretty smart energy saving hack. The lighter fabric is highly reflective whereas, the darker one absorbs heat. So during summer seasons, the shades can be placed such that the lighter fabric is used as the back shade (the one facing the window) to reflect heat and reversed during the winter so that the darker fabric absorbs outside heat.  The Solar fabric is designed to block up to 99% UV rays and control glare considerably, irrespective of whether you opt for sun filtering or room darkening fabrics. This makes them special, as these are the features that mainly blackout fabrics possess. Also, darker fabrics allow a better view of the outside. This glare control feature makes these shades apt for media rooms, rooms that have TV or computer screens.

When it comes to operation, you have the choice of the continuous loop system for manual operation and the Radio Frequency Somfy (RTS) system for motorized operation. The continuous loop system allows you to lower and raise the shades leaving the cord at the same height. This system also has a safety clutch mechanism that securely holds the bottom rail at any height. The motorized dual roller shades allow you to operate the shades anywhere within a 65ft radius indoors, using the remote. Many shades can be integrated into one remote, removing the hassle of operating each of them individually. To make life easier, these shades come installed with a timer that automatically raises and lowers the shades as per a pre-set schedule. This increases privacy and security as your home will seem occupied when left vacant. Another convenient feature of the motorized option is the Sunsi Solar sensor that lowers and raises your shades as per the intensity of light/heat outside. This way you avoid heat gain and loss via your windows, not to mention these sensors take a load of your HVAC system, which would typically be working overtime to compensate for the change in temperature. Also, with the automation interface, you can integrate your shades with a third party automation system, like your cooling system. That way, your HVAC system works based on how much heat your shades are letting through. Using the myLink WiFI to Radio Technology Somfy® interface, you can control up to five channels of RTS motorized products from your iOS or Android devices. With this app, users can send immediate RTS commands, make and control groups of shades and schedules.

There is the option of a 12, 24 or a 120-volt motor. The 12-volt motor can be powered via batteries, solar power, plug-in transformer or by the multi-motor power supply. The 24-volt motor can be powered by either a plug-in transformer or by the multi motor power supply and the 120-volt motor requires the home or building’s line voltage.
